These are the early numbers from the WA state primaries.

Governor Washington

Last updated: 20:29 - Aug 19, 2008
Candidate / Votes / % of vote

Christine Gregoire*(D) 172492 47%
Dino Rossi (R) 176140 48%
(see the update)
John Aiken (R) 6815 2%
Christian Joubert (D) 4750 1%
James White (I) 3299 1%
Duff Badgley (G) 2329 1%
Will Baker (Ref) 1515 0%
Christopher Tudor (NP) 1473 0%
Javier Lopez (R) 1386 0%
Mohammad Said (NP) 716 0%

Attorney General

Last updated: 20:20:38 - Aug 19, 2008
Candidate Votes % of vote

Rob McKenna*(R) 102537 57%
John Ladenburg (D) 78543 43%

For these primaries, these are the two races I am watching the most. Mckenna has been a typical "do nothing for the people but give the corporations what they want" republican.

Christine needs our help!

I am hoping she can pull mid 50's, if not the media and republicans will say she is weak. dino has been running his ads like he is Obama. He also does not mention republican on his ads or signs, he uses GOP.

Update:
Last updated: 20:44 - Aug 19, 2008
Christine Gregoire*(D) 278165 49%
Dino Rossi (R) 256319 45%

Update 2
US House of Reps
http://www.king5.com/election/results.html?congress

Norm Dicks has a weak Democratic challenger, Paul Richmond, who is a lot more progressive then Norm Dicks could ever dream of being. I voted for Paul knowing that Norm was safe and hoping Pual could get in the GE as one of the "top two". (Once again... our primary system SUCKS!)

Update 3
Last updated: 21:42 - Aug 19, 2008

Christine Gregoire*(D) 360428 48%
Dino Rossi (R) 341474 46%

Update 4
These numbers are good for Darcy Burner. If you add up the numbers for all the D candidates (50% plus) and realize that she WILL be moving on to the GE, then I would say that she is doing well and can only do better! She is only down by a couple of points with out adding on the other D votes.

U.S. Congress District 8
Last updated: 21:06:32 - Aug 19, 2008
Candidate Votes % of vote

Dave Reichert*(R) 27186 47%
Darcy Burner (D) 25460 44%
James Vaughn (D) 2398 4%
Richard Todd (NP) 928 2%
Keith Arnold (D) 916 2%
Boleslaw Orlinski (NP) 622 1%

I hope (2.00 / 1)

others can watch and update the numbers in the comments. I am not going to have much time to keep this up, but I will do what I can.

Re: WA State Primary numbers - with Updates (none / 0)

Governor

45.58% Rossi   48.58% Gregoire

8th Dist. Congress

47.27% Reichert   44.27% Burner

I'm one of those who (watch the netroots
beat me up) think that Darcy is NOT the right
candidate for the 8th, She is too left for
the law and order blue collar southern part
of her district, too lefy for the richy part.

I think Rodney Tom was a better choice.

Darcy is in trouble if she loses this, Sherrif
didn't advertise or campaign, and Darcy worked hard.

I hope I am wrong, and Obama turnout could help
her in the fall...

I like Darcy (2.00 / 0)

Her district is changing, maybe not as fast as we would like or she would like but I think she has a good chance.

She needs a LOT more netroots and grassroots help On The Ground in her district!

Me too, just think the 8th is tough for a lefty (none / 0)

Don't get me wrong, I like Darcy and I detest Sherrif Dave.

My best friends are heavy poltical in the 8th, and they are embedded deep in Republic ville out there, and they unfortunately agree with me.

Darcy will get closer, but not sure she can close that gap.

Obama will carry the 8th, but not sure Darcy can knock off Sherrif Dave.

Re: WA State Primary numbers - with Update 2 (2.00 / 1)

What is this party preference thing?

by rfahey22 on Wed Aug 20, 2008 at 12:49:21 AM EST

it is part (2.00 / 1)

of our F'd up primaries.

This year, the top two from each race move to the GE. We could end up with 2 repugs or two Democrats running against each other.

Both parties have fought to kill this. Primaries were meant for Parties to choose who would run under their name but the "good people of WA and the courts" did not like being forced to choose a party pref in the primaries.

We used to have a blanket primary, where you could vote for anyone but the parties did not like it because of the monkey biz that would and could happen. So they decided primary voters should have to choose a Democratic or repug ballot.... then they shit hit the fan.

So.... on the ballot, the do not list the party the are with, only the party they prefer. I saw one candidate with GOP instead of repug. I could run in a repug district, say I prefer the repug party and.... hmmm.... maybe... hmmm????  ;)

Re: it is part (2.00 / 1)

So, does that mean that as long as Burner is in second place, she will move onto the GE?

Yes (2.00 / 1)

it does.

No matter how screwd this is, it is still a primary.

Just one question... (none / 0)

...and no offence as I have a good friend up in Washington.  Just how many caucuses/primaries do you guys have anyway?  Isnt this about the third one this year?  sounds like a cottage industry.

dont mind me, never got over them closing the Dog House in Seattle :(
