Washington State Gov. Chris Gregoire - needs a fundraising push!

It seems we are having similar fundraising issues across this country. Have we democrats become a little complacent or are we just hitting our financial limits?

Rossi tops '04 fundraising
http://blog.seattlepi.nwsource.com/seatt lepolitics/archives/144094.asp

Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi's campaign reported Tuesday that it has topped its fundraising total from the 2004 campaign, having now raised more than $6,254,035.80.

Rossi is again challenging Gov. Chris Gregoire, the Democrat who prevailed in '04 by 133 votes out of almost 3 million cast after two recounts and a court fight.

As of May 31 Gregoire had reported raising about $6.8 million.

I am not suggesting that Gov. Chris Gregoire is not raising money. I am suggesting that she should be doing better, much better! I do not see this as just a fault of her or her campaign, because in my opinion, this is also partly the fault of all of us.

More below...

The race for the president has sucked a lot of money, time and energy out of the state and local races. There is so much netroots and grassroots focus on the presidential race, that it seems like we are loosing focus on the close races in our own backyards.

The recent netroots fundraiser for Darcy Burner shows us what can be done when we have an organized effort across the blogosphere. There were special circumstances that help draw the attention and the money to Darcy Burner (her house burned down), but can't we do similar fundraising campaigns more often? Can't we get the major players in the netroots to try and put together big fundraisers, with a good story for one targeted candidate?

Gov. Chris Gregoire is not Darcy Burner, she does not have the same "geek" appeal, but she has been a great Govenor and the republicans would LOVE to take her down!

If you would like to see some of the lies being said and spread about Gov. Chris Gregoire, then read the comments that follow the story linked above. This is the same kind of crap that has been hitting the airwaves everyday for months. The repugs have a lot of "special interest" groups pouring money into rossi's campaign and into "527" ads.

This past Monday (7/21) I had the privledge to attend an event that was put on the the 31st District Democrats at the Eagles Hall in Buckley, WA. Gov. Chris Gregoire was the main attraction for this event and the place was packed! I talked with some of the Eagles memebers that were there and they were impressed with the turnout and with Gov. Chris Gregoire. This event was primarialy a fundraiser for a couple of veterns issues and the 31st District Democrats but obviously most of the people came to see Gov. Chris Gregoire. Darcy Burner was also supposed to be there, but was dealing with insurance company issues related to her house burning down.

Please take the time to read up on Gov. Chris Gregoire and please donate Time, Energy and Money to KEEP Washington State Blue by reelecting Gov. Chris Gregoire!

Message received. (2.00 / 1)

I got paid today.

Will send her $100 bucks tonight.

But between you and me, I think Dino has a shot.

My Republican friends (NOT Republics, cause the are not idiots, just rich...) are all voting for Obama, but also voting for Dino. Sigh, I try to talk them out of it....

Re: Chris (none / 0)

Yes, and they are going to target her as a vunerable Democratic Gov this time out.

She is going to get POUNDED by out of state money, especially the construction biz.

I'm sorry to say, this scares me. I feel bad omens in the wind.

Rossi will SUCK at being Governor, but I would not bet against him pulling out a close win, even with an Obama landslide in the state.

Re: It does (2.00 / 1)

Nothing is inevitable, and I DON'T think Dino is good on the stump.

Fingers crossed....

Rossi is trying to pin (2.00 / 1)

the Sonics fiasco on her; SurveyUSA had the most recent poll of Washington state and it showed Obama with a 2-to-1 lead over McCain among those 18-34.  Yet, that same age bracket is narrowly favoring Rossi according to that poll; hopefully, Obama will cut an ad for her so those youngsters change their minds.

Let's try to pin this Michelle Obama video on Rossi and make him reject and denounce it.  Rossi certainly doesn't want to be tied to any anti-Obama movement in this state.

Re: Rossi is trying to pin (none / 0)

Not sure if it's the Sonics, but they are certainly trying to pin the budgetary short-fall on her.

I think she has a tough fight on her hands.

Obama in a walk, not sure if his coat-tails are enough.

As you know, we in WA state are a stubborn bunch....

I wish (none / 0)

you could have heard her and seen her on Monday! She was great!

I keep forgetting how tiny she is.  :)

Re: I wish (none / 0)

She showed up at my caucus here in Mukilteo (I registered where I work, didn't have time to change when I moved.)

I was about 5 feet away, and damn, you're right, she is a compact little thing.

Oh, I like her, I don't blame the budget short-fall on her, but the newspapers don't seem to like her a lot, and I just sense, as I said, in this year of a potential democratic nation wide landslide, the Republic money is going to flow where they THINK they have an opening.

I'm praying against it, but I think it's going to be a tough tough tough fight
